1998 classic rover mini cooper sportspack

This 1998 Mini Cooper Sportspack was originally supplied by Caffyns Rover, Brighton and is presented in rare Nightfire Red with a white roof and body decals, over a Cumulus leather-trimmed interior. Under the bonnet resides a 1275cc multi-point injection engine producing around 62bhp through a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a bank of four Rallye-style fog and spot lamps, 13” Sportspack alloy wheels, a red colour-keyed carpet, alloy door furniture, a burr walnut dash and a three-clock binnacle with magnolia-faced dials.

Having had to bide their time to acquire an example of this particular specification and colour combination, the first owner ultimately purchased the Mini from Caffyns on 15th June 1998. They cherished the car, ensuring that it was finely maintained and they regularly attended events such as the Riviera Run, London to Brighton, Mini in the Park and Silverstone 40th anniversary. After 30,000 miles and three enjoyable years of ownership, they very begrudgingly decided to sell the Mini in order to fund a deposit for their first house. They tried to track the whereabouts of the car ever since, but as it was residing in Wales on a private registration for many years, their attempts were to no avail. However, after twenty-three years of separation, we were able to reunite them both!

The Mini has now covered approximately 56,327 miles and has been enthusiast-owned for the past twenty-two years. Up until circa 50,000 miles, the car was predominantly serviced by John Cooper Garages in Worthing (the garage sticker remains in situ on the rear screen). Throughout the 2000's, the Mini was prolific on the show scene and many programmes and souvenir stickers have been retained. The car has been driven very sparingly in recent years, covering a mere 2,000 miles since 2011 with recurring periods unused in storage.

This example is in superb condition and is ready to be enjoyed. It has clearly been very well maintained and preserved. The paintwork has a deep lustre with even finish throughout and all panels appear flush and straight. The original factory ‘body’ number is present on the slam panel as well as the factory spot welds on the inner wings. The correct body-colour vented sills are present both sides and the correct gaps are present in between the wings and scuttle panel. All four alloy wheels appear 'as new' and are shod in new tyres. The cabin is in fine order and there are no tears to the seats, carpet or headlining. The 1275cc multi-point injection engine is strong and pulls impeccably and the gear synchros are all in good order with no crunches upon changes.

The Mini is sold newly serviced and MOT’d (no advisories) and is supplied with a very comprehensive history file dating back to the point of first registration including a fully stamped service book and the original bill of sale.
