This Mini Cooper Sportspack was originally supplied by Martins of Winchester on 1st March 1999 and is presented in Solar Red with a white roof and body decals over a cream leather-trimmed interior. Under the bonnet resides a 1275cc multi-point injection engine coupled with a four-speed manual transmission. Highlights include a bank of four Rallye-style fog and spot lamps, 13” Sportspack alloy wheels, ‘John Cooper’ scripted door step covers, alloy door furnishings, concealed twin 12V sockets, a burr walnut dash and door cappings, and a three-clock binnacle with magnolia-faced dials.
In October 1999, the Mini was taken to John Cooper Garages in Worthing for the 90bhp S Works engine conversion. It was subsequently taken to the owner’s holiday home in the Algarve, where it spent around fourteen years in warm, dry conditions.
The Mini currently displays 36,583 miles from new and it has been cherished by an enthusiast for the past seven years. During their time of ownership, the car was regularly exhibited at summer events and was always garaged stored and connected to a battery conditioner when not in use.
The Mini is in excellent condition throughout and has clearly been meticulously maintained. The paintwork is in fine order and the body panels appear original, flush and straight. The chromework, rubbers and trim are in excellent condition. The original factory ‘body’ number is present on the slam panel as well as the factory spot welds on the inner wings. The correct vented sills are present both sides and the undercarriage has been waxoyl protected. All four alloy wheels are shod in recommended Yokohama A539 tyres. The cabin is in very good order, and attached to the crossmember resides the John Cooper Garages conversion plaque engraved with conversion number ‘0397-Si’. The converted 1275cc injection engine is strong and very responsive, whilst the gearbox, with added quick-shift, is in very good order with no crunches upon changes.
The Mini is sold recently serviced and MOT’d and also benefits from a recent new stainless steel exhaust, catalyst, rocker cover, expansion tank, fuel sender unit and Hi-Los. Notably, the car has passed its last eight MOTs without any advisories and there are no corrosion issues on the MOT history record. Supplied with the Mini are two sets of keys and a comprehensive history file dating back to the point of first registration including the original stamped service book and the John Cooper Garages conversion invoice.
