1997 classic rover mini cooper si by john cooper garages

This classic Mini Cooper was first registered on 10th February 1997 and has covered just 35,000 miles from new. In April 1998 the Mini was taken to John Cooper Garages and converted to the Si specification, increasing performance from 62bhp to 85bhp. It is one of the final generation of classic Minis and, as such, is very collectable, especially as John Cooper Garages closed in 2004. The Mini has been family owned since August 1998 (with one former keeper) and very lightly used for the last 20 years.

This example has been extremely well maintained and is presented in exceptional condition.

Exterior: Presented in Flame red with white roof and body decals. Rallye-style fog and spot lamps, Minilite alloy wheels, ‘John Cooper’ signatures on bonnet stripes, ‘Cooper S’ laurels, red enamel ‘Cooper’ bonnet and boot badges. The paintwork is in excellent condition and is free of any rust. All chrome excellent. The Mini has ben dry stored when not in use.

Interior: ‘Monaco’ half-leather seats (light stone beige fabric / black leather), black carpet, extensive burr walnut interior trim (from John Cooper Garages), leather steering wheel and gear knob, three-clock binnacle with magnolia faced dials with chrome surrounds. The cabin is excellent condition, commensurate with such low mileage. The burr walnut dash and trim has resisted significant discolouration (as result of indoor storage). The leather steering wheel and gear knob are free of substantial wear. There is no damage or tears to the carpet or headlining. The boot compartment is trimmed in bright red carpet, to match the exterior paintwork. This is in excellent condition and, underneath the carpet, there is a full-size spare Minilite with a good tyre.

Mechanics: The engine is strong and pulls impeccably thanks to the John Cooper conversion. The Mini also benefits from a quick shift gear lever, which can easily be reverted back to original factory specification if desired. Very nimble. Handles spot-on. Brakes well.

The classic Mini Cooper is sold newly serviced and MOT’d with no advisories and also benefits from new shock absorbers, new Hi-Los and recent new Yokohama A539 tyres. Supplied with a comprehensive history file dating back to the point of first registration to warrant the mileage, including the original John Cooper Garages conversion invoice.

Phil is a really genuine, honest, respectful and polite man to deal with. He was very flexible and made our transaction very smooth, even completing all the paperwork and kept me fully informed throughout. I would not hesitate to use the company again. Thank you Phil.

Gemma Page

From start to finish Phil was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Knowledgeable, professional and kind. I absolutely adore my new (but old!) Mini Cooper. She's a beauty! Would definitely recommend and if I'm in the market for a classic again, Phil Mires Classic Cars would be my first port of call.
