1998 classic rover mini cooper sportspack

This Mini Cooper Sportspack was registered by Caffyns Rover, Sussex on 28th August 1998 and is presented in rare Nightfire Red with a white roof, over a black leather-trimmed interior. Under the bonnet resides a 1275cc multi-point injection engine producing around 62bhp through a four-speed manual transmission. Features include chequered bonnet stripes (a factory option), a bank of four Rallye-style fog and spot lamps, 13” Sportspack alloy wheels, alloy door furniture, a burr walnut dash and a three-clock binnacle with magnolia-faced dials.

This Mini boasts one owner and 22,958 miles from new and is an incredibly original and honest example. It served as a daily driver for the first three years before transitioning into classic car life, participating in shows and iconic events such as the London to Brighton run. The car has been garage-stored pretty much its entire life and has spent recurring periods unused, particularly between 2002 and 2015 when the owner twice relocated, and it has only clocked up 900 miles since.

Thanks to years of careful storage, the exterior presents very well with the odd blemish. The bodywork appears completely original and the Nightfire Red paint has a deep lustre and even finish throughout. The original factory ‘body’ number is present on the bonnet slam panel as well as the factory spot welds on the inner wings. There are correct body-coloured vented sills both sides and the proper gaps are present in between scuttle panel and the tops of the wings. The glass, chromework and trim are all in excellent condition and the original supplying dealer number plates remain in situ front and rear. All four alloy wheels appear 'as new' and are shod with new tyres.

Inside, the cabin is in fine order, reflective of the car's very low mileage, with no tears to the seats, carpet or headlining. The burr walnut dash remains in very good condition, showing no signs of cracking or significant fading. The boot, undercarriage and engine bay are well-presented, while the 1275cc multi-point injection engine runs strong and responsive. Additionally, the Mini benefits from a K&N air filter and an RC40 exhaust, which offers a pleasingly subtle yet raspy note.

The Mini comes freshly serviced and MOT’d and is supplied with a history file including the original owner’s handbooks and stamped service book.
