1996 classic rover mini cooper 1.3i spi (coming soon)
This Mini was first registered on 2nd May 1996 and is presented in iconic British Racing Green with contrasting white roof and bonnet stripes, over a black leather-trimmed interior. Power comes from a lively 1275cc single-point injection A-Series engine, producing around 62bhp through a four-speed manual transmission. Features include twin spot lamps, 12-inch Minilite alloy wheels, a Sportex twin-box centre-exit exhaust, a high-level brake light, chrome interior trim, a leather-bound ‘Cooper’ steering wheel, burr walnut dashboard and door cappings, and a three-clock binnacle with magnolia-faced dials.
This is a Mini I know particularly well, having previously sold it to its latest owner in 2022. Prior to that, it had remained within the same family ownership since 2010, having spent its earlier life in the Channel Islands. In 2013, and approximately 3,000 miles ago, the Mini was subject to an extensive restoration by Mini Speed, with documented expenditure of around £14,000.
Now displaying 40,123 miles, the Mini presents very well throughout. Its latest custodian was particularly conscientious in preserving it, covering under 150 miles and keeping the car garaged when not in use. The British Racing Green paintwork retains a deep, even finish, complemented by straight and well-aligned body panels. Body-coloured vented sills are present on both sides, while the glass, brightwork and exterior trim all remain in very good condition. The 12-inch Minilite alloy wheels also present superbly, having been refurbished in 2022.
Inside, the black leather-trimmed cabin is clean and inviting, presenting very well for its age and mileage. The seats, carpets and headlining remain in excellent condition, free from visible tears or damage. The burr walnut dashboard and door cappings are beautifully presented, free from cracking or delamination, having been professionally re-lacquered in 2022. Elsewhere, both the boot and engine bay remain in commendable condition.
On the road, the 1275cc injection engine feels sprightly and responsive, pulling cleanly through all four gears and braking effectively. The Sportex exhaust is subtle yet produces a nice raspy tone that enhances the experience.
Freshly serviced and MOT’d until 14th June 2027, the Mini is accompanied by a history file which includes documentation relating to the extensive restoration carried out in 2013. The car is sold with the private registration '325FLF'.
A very well-presented Mini with low mileage, documented restoration work and a pleasing history of careful ownership, ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian.
