2000 classic rover mini john cooper le 40 s (coming soon)

The Mini John Cooper LE 40 was unveiled in 1999 to commemorate two landmark anniversaries: 40 years of the Mini and 40 years since the Cooper name secured the Formula One World Championship. Produced in a limited run of just 300 examples, it ranks among the rarest and most desirable special edition Minis built by Rover. Every LE 40 was finished exclusively in Brooklands Green with a contrasting Old English White roof, bonnet stripes and mirrors, complemented by a distinctive Grenadine Red leather interior. Built to an exceptionally high specification, each car featured 13-inch Sportspack alloy wheels and wheel arch extensions, twin spot lamps, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever, and an engine-turned effect dashboard with magnolia-faced dials.

First registered on 23rd March 2000, this particular LE 40 benefits from the desirable John Cooper Garages 90bhp 'S' conversion. Already regarded as one of the most sought-after Mini models, the addition of this performance upgrade enhances the driving experience while adding a further layer of rarity and appeal, with John Cooper Garages closing only a few years after production of the classic Mini came to an end.

Currently displaying 60,710 miles, the Mini has been enthusiast-owned for the past eight years, forming part of a carefully curated private collection. During this time, it has been stored in a dehumidified garage, well maintained and driven sparingly, exclusively in dry weather, covering less than 1,500 miles. Their decision to part with the car was made solely due to relocation to a property with insufficient space to accommodate the entire collection.

The Mini presents very well throughout, with years of careful ownership and indoor storage clearly having paid dividends. The chassis number is correctly stamped into the scuttle, while the original factory ‘body’ number is present on the bonnet slam panel and the inner wings display uniform spot welds. The glass, brightwork and exterior trim all present in excellent order, and the overall condition is entirely consistent with that of a carefully maintained enthusiast-owned example.

Inside, the Grenadine Red leather interior has been exceptionally well preserved and remains in excellent condition. The seats and carpet present very well, while the leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob display a gentle, honest patina. Attached to the crossmember resides the engraved John Cooper Garages plaque.

Elsewhere, the boot, engine bay and undercarriage are well-presented, the latter having been professionally waxoyl treated for long-term protection. Notably, the Mini boasts an impressive MOT history with no corrosion concerns recorded, providing further evidence of the care it has received throughout its life.

As expected, the converted 1275cc multi-point injection engine provides an engaging driving experience. Performance feels lively and responsive, pulling cleanly through all four gears with smooth, precise changes, while the twin-exit stainless steel exhaust produces a purposeful yet refined burble that complements the car's character.

The Mini is sold freshly serviced and MOT’d until 24th June 2027 and is supplied with two sets of keys and a history file dating back to the point of first registration, including the original book pack and a fully-stamped service portfolio.
