The Rover Mini Italian Job: An Insight

Inspired by the iconic 1969 film featuring Michael Caine, Rover introduced the Mini Italian Job edition in October 1992. Only 1,000 examples were made for the home market, available in four striking colours: Flame Red, Diamond White, Electric Blue, and Metallic British Racing Green. Designed to resemble the Mk1 Coopers from the film, these Minis were powered by a sprightly 1275cc carburettor engine coupled with a four-speed manual transmission. Highlighting their distinctive style were body-coloured mirrors, twin driving lamps, black bumpers adorned with bonnet stripes, a white grille, and sleek 12" Minilite alloy wheels, complemented by black tweed seats featuring red piping and various nods to “The Italian Job”.

Our Rover Mini Italian Job for sale

Our Mini Italian Job was first registered on 4th June 1993 and is presented in Diamond White with a contrasting black roof and bonnet stripes. The Mini boasts 46,682 miles and three owners from new and has been cherished by an enthusiast for the past eight years. The Mini has lived a pampered life and has participated in several charity events in recent years. What's more, the latest owner only drove the car on dry days and always ensured that it was garage stored when not in use.

The Mini is in really good condition and has clearly been carefully maintained. As result of years of dry storage, the exterior presents very well with only the odd blemish. The paint finish is even and the body panels appear flush and straight. The model specific white-painted Minilite alloy wheels, black bumpers, white grille and stickers and badges are all present. The glass, chrome and trim are in excellent condition. The original factory ‘body’ number is present on the slam panel and the chassis number is correctly etched into the front and rear screens. All four alloy wheels are in excellent condition and are shod in recommended Yokohama A539 tyres. The sills (correct vented kind) were replaced in 2016 and are in very good order. The undercarriage, boot and engine bay are also very good. The interior is impressive and reflects the low mileage. The original seats and three-spoke steering wheel are present and the glass tilt sunroof is in fine working order. The cabin is clean and there are no tears or splits to the seats or headlining. New carpets have been fitted recently. The Mini drives incredibly well with no synchro issues on the gearbox. The centre exit Maniflow exhaust is subtle, yet produces a nice raspy note.

The Mini is sold with an MOT valid until 23rd April 2025 (no advisories) and also benefits from recent new Moulton suspension cones, Hi-Los and shock absorbers. Accompanying the Mini are two sets of keys and a history file dating back to the point of first registration including the original stamped service book.
